Epcot's La Cava Del Tequila

By: Nick

People often talk of traditions at Disney Parks. We don't really have any, except to get our picture in front of Cinderella Castle, which is probably the most common tradition out there.

But another one that is mine alone, because my wife doesn't drink, is to have a shot (or 3) at La Cava Del Tequila in Epcot's World Showcase Mexico Pavilion.

When you enter the Mexico Pavilion, you enter the lovely Plaza De Los Amigos, or Plaza of the Friends, an "open air" market.

To the right of this marketplace, is where you'll find La Cava Del Tequila, the Cellar of the Tequila.

The bar is a great place to sit...

... but on our recent trip, my wife and I met a really great couple, who we wound up chatting with for awhile in the very cozy seating area.

They have several different Specialty Margarits, but you can get other drinks here besides Tequila based libations, such as these craft beers, which are a new edition.

I was very tempted to try one of these brews, but I go for the Tequila! Shots are not cheap, ranging from $7 to over $60.

They have their own website, which lists the over 70 different types of Tequila they serve!

Then, after my shots, we take a Gran Fiesta Tour with the Three Caballeros.

Sometimes, you can even catch the Mariachi band in the Plaza!

This dark but inviting spot is the perfect place to escape the heat (or, yes, a couple of times in January, the cold!) and take a break, but it can at times be extremely crowded, so you may have a wait.
