While my cold inexorably advanced, I would not let it stop me from getting up and out to the Magic Kingdom for Rope Drop.
We packed and brought our bags down to Airline Check In and Bell Services, grabbed a coffee at the Belle Vue Lounge, and made our way to the bus stop.
Since we hadn't been able to get a FastPass for Seven Dwarfs Mine Train, I knew it would be important to get there at opening, or wait until our December trip to ride.
Since the Walt Disney World Railroad was down for refurbishment, the Opening Ceremony was shortened, and we were on our way up Main Street U.S.A. along with a majority of the crowds, on the way to the Mine Train at about 8:50am.
In no time we were in the queue, and fairly quickly got on the ride.
I set up my iPhone to video tape the ride through, and indeed, got 2 minutes of great footage, but then, at some point I must have jostled the phone off, as the footage stops abruptly, so I'll try to get another ride through in the future to share here on the blog.
Is this a thrill ride? No, is it a wonderfully themed and thoroughly entertaining attraction that I recommend for the whole family? Absolutely!
We then headed to Peter Pan's Flight where we had FastPasses, followed by Haunted Mansion.
We spent quite a bit of time in Momento Mori, the new Haunted Mansion merchandise shop.
As I was getting very hungry, I had a Mickey Head Ice Cream for breakfast.
I did some Vinylmation trading at the Frontierland Trading Post, before returning to HM for another ride. After that we rode Little Mermaid, followed by lunch at Be Our Guest, where I had my favorite dish, the Braised Pork.
We then watched Mickey's PhilharMagic, and stopped into the Carousel of Progress. Our last FP of the day was for Pirates of the Caribbean. It was such an absolutely gorgeous day, and the park was so crowded, there was a 45 minute wait!
As it was now after 2pm, we headed for Main Street, where we did a little shopping in the Emporium, and then grabbed a great spot in the shade for The Festival of Fantasy Parade.
While we waited, we were treated to a couple of songs from the Dapper Dans!
The parade came by a short time later. And, well, it is the best parade I've seen. Yes, I'm going to say it, better than Boo To You, in my opinion, and Barbie agrees (though we both still think the music to Boo To You is the best). I'll have a full review as well as video footage in the future.
It was now 3:45pm, so we hopped a bus back to the Boardwalk. Our Magical Express pickup was at 5:15, so we still had time to grab a couple of goodies at the Boardwalk Bakery.
It was a wonderful trip, despite a couple of hiccups, not the least being my inevitable cold, which at least had the courtesy to wait until I was on the plane home to really hit hard.
