Walt Disney Home Video Promotional Buttons

By Nick

Back in the mid 90′s when I was a Cast Member at a local Disney Store, we would wear buttons to promote the newest releases on Walt Disney Home Video.

Some were major releases of blockbuster animated movies, such as Pocahontas.

.

Some were for live action clunkers, such as “A Kid in King Arthur’s Court”. I confess, I saw this in the theater, and don’t remember a minute of it. I went to see it for the Mickey Mouse cartoon short before it, “Runaway Brain”.

.

I believe “Angels in the Outfield” may have been a bigger success, but I have not seen it to this day.

.

We would also promote the latest Sing Along Songs videos, such as this one featuring songs from the Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Do you have any of these movies or the sing along videos on VHS?

Roger Rabbit Buttons

By Nick

Back when Roger Rabbit came out, I was amazed. I saw it 3 times in the theater, and have owned various copies on DVD and Blue-ray. I have several collectibles as yet to be rediscovered somewhere, but I can share a couple of buttons from the jar of buttons.

This first one I believe I may have gotten at Disney MGM Studios, now Disney’s Hollywood Studios.
There used to be a plan to have Roger Rabbit as a major part of the studios, but legal trouble with the joint owners of Roger, Amblin Entertainment, put the breaks on that. A real shame, in my opinion.

This next one is from the Disney Store. We would get buttons promoting new videos frequently, and wear them on our sweaters. Anyone remember the sweaters?

Flea Market Finds–Vintage Disney Buttons

By Barbie

There are times when you could walk around the Flea Market and find absolutely nothing that catches your eye. Then there are times when you walk around and you can imagine everything you see as a gift for someone else!

Such is the case with these two vintage Disney buttons: a Donald Duck button and a Winnie the Pooh button. Both of which came home with us. And were given out as gifts!

Vintage EPCOT Center World Showcase Buttons

By: Nick

Unlike Epcot’s Future World, not a lot has changed in World Showcase, and for that I’m grateful.
This is perhaps my favorite section of my favorite park in Walt Disney World.
These buttons were bought back in the early to mid 90′s.

Long before I had a real passport, I had my World Showcase passport, and I'll share that here tomorrow.

Introducing: The Jar of Disney Buttons

By: Nick Maglio

Back before the pin collecting craze, there were buttons, and I collected them. I used to have a large piece of black felt that I hung them on. During one of my moves though, I took them off, put them in a jar, and never got around to hanging them back up.

I thought every now and again, I'd bring a couple out, and since some Lion King buttons are clearly visible in the photo above, I will share those.

At the Disney Store I worked at in the early 90's, we had buttons to promote movies, and introduce our guests to new characters. There was a little movie called The Lion King that was being released in 1994.

I had the great fortune to see it during it's Radio City Music Hall World Premier run.

Look for more buttons from The Jar in future posts.
