Brave Little Tailor Musical Figures

Brave Little Tailor Tuesdays! My favorite Mickey Mouse cartoon is "The Brave Little Tailor". Released in 1938, this was one of the last of the old, and in my opinion, best, style Mickey cartoons, before his retooling for "The Sorcerer's Apprentice." To me, this is Mickey's finest hour. If you haven't seen it, it can be found on the Walt Disney Treasures: Mickey Mouse in Living Color DVD set.  I have quite a few Mickey as The Brave Little Tailor collectibles and over the next few months, I will share them every Tuesday. I picked these 2 musical figures up while working at a Disney Store in the mid 90's.
Mickey didn't battle the giant for fame or fortune, he did it for the hand of Princess Minnie.

Wind her up and Minnie plays "Someday My Prince Will Come."

The killer of seven with one blow, Tailor Mickey.

Mickey plays "When You Wish Upon a Star."

Please stop back next Tuesday for more Brave Little Tailor!

Epcot's Canada Pavilion

First of all, don't those photos make you want to live there? Each year the plantings are more lovely then the last. Epcot's Canada Pavilion may be one of the most scenic, hidden spots in the World Showcase. It is a lovely walk down to their restaurant, "Le Cellier Steakhouse" where one can get a phenomenal meal. Beware, you must make reservations well in advance of your trip! Many of our friends and acquaintances have laughed at us to hear that we would book a meal six months in advance of a trip we were planning, but that's just par for the course for us!

Try the cheddar cheese soup. Yum! The pretzel bread sticks, I'm drooling right now...

Flea Market Finds: Mickey at Walt Disney World Postcards

I picked these postcards up at the flea market a few weeks ago. They all feature Mickey Mouse at Walt Disney World. We'll start with this fun one, with Mickey, Goofy, and Pluto in front of Cinderella Castle.

Holly was at Walt Disney World during Christmastime, 1979, and sent a postcard to her class. She was really rubbing it in when she tells them it's Monday, and she is at Disney World while the rest of her schoolmates are apparently in school! Classic.

Next up we, we have the Chief Firemouse, which, I believe, is also from 1979.

This person is writing Carol to tell her she is spending time with cousins, and that it's hot, but I can't make out what month it is.

The next card was never sent, and I'm not sure of the date.

Strike Up the Band! "Drum Major Mickey Mouse leads the Walt Disney World Band down Main Street U.S.A. in one of the musical group's daily performances." This leads one to believe that, at least at one point during the day, you'll see Mickey Mouse leading the band. I am not sure if this ever happened, but I'd like to see it.

And finally, we have Mickey's Collection, which is apparently pictures a collection of older cards, including the one above.

It's January 1991, and Aunt Freda is writing her family about her 2 week vacation. It's January and it's cold at Epcot Center, but at least she's having a good time.

No matter what time of year you visit Walt Disney World, it's hard NOT to have a good time!

Animal Kingdom's Kilimanjaro Safaris

Disney's Animal Kingdom, what an adventure you can have at this park! If you plan to go, and by golly, you should, get there when the park opens and go to the Kilimanjaro safari ride first...and then go on it again, and again and again; throughout the day. You will be amazed by the animals you will see on your separate adventures

This rhino gave a half hearted attempt to knock over our safari truck. Now you know the driver wouldn't have let that happen, but all the riders got quite a thrill from having him come so close!

Try to go during a rainy day, cloudy weather and a sunny day for different experiences.
After the safari take a walk along the jungle trail to catch a glimpse of some naked mole rats, fruit bats and a couple of playful tigers, just to whet your appetite.

There's something for everyone. Plan to spend the day there. It is worth it.

Tail Light Flowers in Your Garden?

How would you like to have these flowers in your garden? They can be found at Cars Land in Disney California Adventure.

These hardy flowers stay in bloom all year; and Cars Land has it's own resident gardener in Red.

The Cozy Cone wouldn't think of using anything else in it's landscaping.

Director Mickey Mouse Vinylmation

My wife got me this Director Mickey Mouse Vinylmation as a Christmas gift.
Here he is visiting Disney's Hollywood Studios Walt Disney World with us.

From the information I've seen, he was available at a special event for Disney employees only, Cast Members of the Burbank Studio Store on the lot.

I can't find any information as to how many were produced.

"Mickey" is printed on his megaphone.

"Director" printed on his painted on chair.

By Disney Artist Jim Valeri. Studio Store is printed on the bottom.

I'm ready for my close up M.M.!

Cinderella Castle Desktop

On each trip, my wife and I take several photos to use as desktops. We set our preferences to random, and they rotate out every minute or so. I'm going to start posting them every so often, and if you like them, they are there to share!
