Brave Little Tailor Tuesday

A few months ago I shared a couple of "Capsule Toys", also known as Gashapon or Gacha.
Today, I'd like to share a few items from the "Sweet Dreams Gallery." These little pieces of animation art are small, just 2 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches, and come in a little plastic bag with their display easel.

First off, the Brave Little Tailor.
This features Minnie prompting Tailor Mickey to go after the giant. The year of the release is above the title, 1938. And check out the ornate frame with Mickey presenting the piece!

Next, we have Mickey's best pal, Pluto, with Dinah the Dachshund, in Pluto's Heart Throb. The year printed on the title scroll is 1931. This isn't even close! Pluto's Heart Throb, was released in 1950!

Finally, Tinker Bell from Peter Pan, from 1953.

I payed $5.84 for each of these on eBay, which included shipping. While the capsules weren't included, this sheet was. It shows the rest of the series, 12 in all, including one mystery piece.

I'm hooked on these capsule toys, and have some more to share in the future. Like Vinylmation, they are tiny collectibles that don't take up a lot of space, but have a lot of personality.

Disney Tomy Yujin Mickey Mouse and Friends Figure Set

I bought this Disney Tomy Yujin Mickey Mouse and Friends Relaxing, Forever Friends Figure Set of 6 Gashapon figures off of eBay for $12.95.

They probably came in capsules, individually in these little bags.

They're adorable separately, but are meant to be together.
Winnie the Pooh and Piglet.

 Bambi and Flower.

Last but not least, Mickey Mouse as the Brave Little Tailor and Princess Minnie Mouse.

Disney Pixar Finding Nemo Figures

I found these 9 Finding Nemo PVC figures on eBay for $9.99, including shipping.
I'm not at all sure where they come from, but they came up when I did a search for "Disney Gashapon."
They each measure between 2 and 3 inches.

Let's start with Nemo, the little Clown Fish who gets lost in movies and theme park attractions all over the world!

Nemo's friend, Pearl, a Flapjack Octopus.

Nemo's overprotective father, Marlin.

Marlin's forgetful friend, Dory.

What's that around her neck?

The scuba mask that leads Dory and Marlin to Nemo's location!

On their journey to find Nemo, they encounter a group of sharks, like the Great White, Bruce.

They also meet a sea turtle named Crush, and his son Squirt. No Crush is included with the set (!) but we do have Squirt.

Nemo is put in an aquarium, where he meets Angelfish Gill...

... Blowfish Bloat...

...and Yellow Tang, Bubbles.

Disney's Little Hiawatha

I recently bought several Disney capsule toys off of eBay. The seller shipped me 1/2 of my order rather quickly. But, you'll note, I only got 1/2 of my order. When I wrote the seller to inquire about the other 1/2, they were very apologetic, and sent me a couple extra toys, a very nice surprise. One of them was this Little Hiawatha from the Cinemagic Films Volume 1 collection.

One of the wonderful things about these little one inch figures is the unique and often obscure characters they present from the entire history of Disney animation.

 

Little Hiawatha is a Silly Symphonies animated short released in 1937 about a young Indian brave who sets off into the forest prove his worth by hunting big game. After a series of misadventures he becomes a friend to all (well, most) of the woodland creatures.
Why are his drawers falling down? This is a running gag throughout the cartoon.

 

I watched this wonderful cartoon on YouTube, but it can be found on Walt Disney Treasures: More Silly Symphonies Volume Two DVD set. In fact, Little Hiawatha is on the cover!

 
Seeing the cartoon jogged my memory. I have a couple of Disneyland Magazines from childhood. I went to my box of Disney Magazines, and sure enough, on the cover of one I found our little friend here.

He is featured in a Cinderella's Disneytime story inside!

We'll take a more in depth look at Disneyland Magazine in the future.

Square Enix Formation Arts Lilo and Stitch Figures

I discovered these figures while doing a search for "Gashapon" Disney figures, which I've started collecting in the last year.

Lilo and Stitch holds a very special place in our hearts, as it's the first Disney movie we saw together, so I'm always on the lookout for reasonably priced collectibles from this film.
I got the whole set for $40 on eBay.
They usually go for a much higher price per figure on eBay than what I paid for all 5, so was pretty happy with the purchase.

I am not very familiar with Square Enix Formation Arts figures, so I was a bit surprised when I opened the box and saw this!

 A puzzle! Just insert the figures into their respective slots.
Are these toys for young children? Do they come in Capsules like Gashapon?
Whatever they are, I think they are awesome!

As an extra bonus, they look great amongst our plants!

Capsule Toys: Disney Cinemagic

I've discovered a new love. Capsule toys. These little beauties come out of vending machines. I've seen these listed as Gashapon and Gacha, but I'm just going to stick with calling them capsule toys.

The 2 pieces I will share today are the 1st couple I purchased on eBay.

First we have The Little Mermaid from the Disney Cinemagic Films Volume 4 collection, and was bought for $5.64, with free shipping.

How small is this figure of Ariel holding Flounder? A little over an inch, or 3.5cm. Ariel and Flounder came detached from the "film strip", and they simply snapped together.

The capsule itself wasn't shipped with the figure, but it did come with a little pamphlet picturing the whole series.

Also included are little clips that connect each new figure to make a "film reel". I'll include that in future posts when I receive more of these tiny treasures.

Next up is a piece from the Disney Cinemagic Museum Collection. It depicts a scene from the musical number "Be Our Guest" from Beauty and the Beast.

It measures about 1.5" inches high and 2" wide. There is a lot of wonderful detail in a small package. In back of Lumiere is Mrs. Potts and Chip. I didn't even notice this until I was photographing it!

This was a bit more expensive, at $7.99, also with free shipping.

 It also came with a pamphlet picturing more from this series.
