Looking Forward to Food at WDW - Epsisode 165 of the Disney Exchange Podcast

The Disney Exchange is Lisa, Dave, and me, the Talent, Nick

Podcast: Play in new window | Download

Another whiz-bang episode recorded early because of my schedule.

Disney's Hollywood Studios is staying the same for the forseeable future. Yay!

Dave quotes a tabloid. Fake news.

Thank you listener Allison for this week's show topic: Most anticipated new restaurant or food at Walt Disney World.

Not surprisingly a lot of our choices were located in Disney Springs. Speaking of Disney Springs...

Photo: Lisa

...The Wheel of Distiny topic this week was from listener Andrew: What would you do with 5 hours at Disney Springs?

Thanksgiving Dinner at Walt Disney World - Episode 151 of The Disney Exchange Podcast

The Disney Exchange is Lisa, Dave, and me, Nick

Dear listeners, this show has a major flaw for which I apologize. The flaw being I am not in it.

Lisa and David talk about this list of places to enjoy Thanksgiving dinner at Walt Disney World.

Yes, I took this photo. The bag is from our recent (2 days ago as of the recording of this show) and the Spam is... well, don't ask.

The Wheel of Distiny topic is from listener and friend of the show, Gaylin : What is the most expensive thing or experience you've had at Walt Disney World?

We each go around and share our choices for each meal of the day, plus a snack.

I have just one thing to say. Coffee dust.

Table Service Break Away at Walt Disney World: Episode 99 of The Disney Exchange

The Disney Exchange Podcast is Lisa, Dave, and me, Nick

Podcast: Play in new window | Download

Dave thinks Christmas is starting too early, shares some interesting info on construction at the Magic Kingdom, and we all hope that PizzeRizzo at Disney's Hollywood Studios will be an improvement over Pizza Planet.

Back on Episode 80 we took a look at taking a break from the heat and crowds of the Theme parks at Walt Disney World to visit a resort to have a quick service meal.

This week we are talking about taking a break to visit table service restaurants.
For example, you're at the Magic Kingdom, and it's a busy time of year, and you just want to get away from the crowds. We suggest making an ADR at a Monorail Resort restaurant, like Citricos at Disney's Grand Floridian Resort.

The Wheel of Distiny: What is your favorite scene or joke on The Jungle Cruise?

Next, our 100th Episode! We're going to be having a giveaway for our Numbered Listeners.
Back in the early shows we would joke about our low listener numbers, saying we had 12 whole listeners, and that included us and my wife! People started giving themselves numbers and it became a badge of honor for some!

You can request your Listener Number to be eligible for the giveaway up until 5pm on November 7th, and you can request it on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/thedisneyexchange, Twitter: https://twitter.com/disneyexchange  or email us at: info@thedisneyexchange

And if you are so inclined, a 5 start review on iTunes would go a long way towards getting our show out to the masses!

The Disney Exchange Podcast : Episode 80 - Quick Service Break

By Nick

Podcast: Play in new window | Download

The Disney Exchange is Lisa, Dave and me.

I apologize in advance for my dial up internet service.

We start off discussing changes coming to the Quick Service Disney Dining Plan. They are adding a second snack per day, yet taking away desserts.

Listener pole: How do you feel about these changes?

Our main topic explores the option to leave a park and visit a resort for a quick service meal.

For example, leave the Magic Kingdom during the heat of the day and head over to the Polynesian to visit Captain Cooks.

We had intended on making this week's show much more professionally executed and researched. Apology #2.

If you have any idea as to what you can get to go at Beaches and Cream at Disney's Yacht and Beach Club, please let us know.

Wheel of Distiny topic: Favorite place to people watch at the parks.

This photo of my favorite spot at Disney’s Hollywood Studios was provided by friend Stephanie Demmler. Thank you for the photographic proof that this fountain exists Stephanie!

You can submit a Wheel suggestion or show topic idea to:

We are also asking for your etiquette questions, as we are in negotiations to bring social graces expert Miss Pixie back on to the show, so, please, if you have anything, please let us know on any of our social media pages!

Episode 77 of The Disney Exchange Podcast : Sharing is Caring at Walt Disney World

By Nick

Podcast: Play in new window | Download

The Disney Exchange is Lisa, Dave and me, Nick.

All photos this week are courtesy of Dave. Thanks for sharing Dave!

Dave starts us off with a look at his trip to Walt Disney World this past week. He shares (you'll notice a theme here) the highs and lows.

He talks about his Water Park experiences and I ask about PhotoPass which leads to a discussion that apparently bored Lisa to distraction, prompting her to post her thoughts on this boredom on Twitter. Ah, the love.

If you ever meet Dave at Disney Springs, and feel the urge to take him out to eat, I suggest taking him to Raglan Road, he LOVES it there.

Speaking of Disney Springs, there is a whole new section open! And Lion parking? Or Line? Lime?

Dave goes on to talk about sharing a $20 burger and fries with his wife at the newly open D-Luxe Burger at the aforementioned Disney Springs.

Since we are on the topic of sharing, let's talk about our main show topic submitted by listener #48, Sharon. It involves sharing meals at restaurants, and how servers treat guests doing this. We suggest several good restaurants for splitting meals at each of the parks, including good places for appetizers, as well as our experiences with Cast Member's. We manage to stay on topic for the most part!

The Wheel of Distiny subject was submitted by listener #46 - Paul. What is your favorite background music loop?

You can submit your show or Wheel ideas on our Facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/thedisneyexchange on Twitter: https://twitter.com/disneyexchange  or email us at: info@thedisneyexchange

Tex-Mex at Pecos Bill in the Magic Kindgdom

By Nick

A few months ago there was a change to the menu at Pecos Bill Tall Tale Inn & Cafe in Walt Disney World. They started serving Tex-Mex inspired items, replacing their popular burger selections. I gave a couple of items a try back in January.

Let's take a look at the new offerings.

Not shown above is a Taco Burger topped with Seasoned Ground Beef and Pepper Jack Cheese and served with a side of Tortilla Chips and Beef Nachos, Tortilla Chips topped with Seasoned Ground Beef, Tomatoes, and Lettuce.

There is also a fixin's bar, just like in the burger days, this time with salsas and quacamole.

On my first visit I had the Chicken Burrito, and it was very good, but extremely messy and unwieldy, so I would go for the Fajita Platter as an alternative.

On the next stop, I had the Southwest Burger, and this was also very tasty, and...a burger! So Pecos Bill is still a great stop for that all American favorite.

Harambe Market at Disney's Animal Kingdom

By Nick

I'd heard about a new dining area to be located in Disney's Animal Kingdom's Africa section, and was excited to visit it when I was there with 2 friends last May. I was disappointed when I discovered when it was due to open just a few days after our visit, so it became one of my must dos for my trip in January.

And it didn't disappoint! Well, for the most part.

The themeing and details are amazing, and the food was pretty good. More on that shortly.

What was a bit of a downer was the disorganization of the lines, of which are very long indeed. Also, as I learned from a fellow guest, you can order whatever you want at any window, despite the themeing of each section not informing you of this fact.

I waited about 30 minutes in line, but once my order was placed, the food was served quickly.

I ordered 2 things:

The Grilled Chicken Skewer served with Green Papaya Slaw and Black-Eyed Pea, Corn and Tomato Salad and the Beef and Pork Sausage Fried in Curried Corn Batter. This also comes with the same side as the skewer, but I asked if I could get another item in it's place as I was already getting that and got a cookie. I also got a Reef Donkey APA Draft.

The batter on the sausage was pretty thick, and I wound up taking it off, and the sausage was very good. The skewer was excellent as was the slaw and salad. The beer was pretty good also.
I will absolutely go back and try other options, but suggest going at opening rather than during the lunch rush.

Episode 70 of The Disney Exchange Podcast: Best Disney Dining Day

By Nick

Podcast: Play in new window | Download

The Disney Exchange is Lisa, Dave, and me, Nick!

Listener / reader poll;
Who would like Disney etiquette expert Miss Pixie to return and cover your Disney etiquette questions?

We bring back the rickety wheel for Tony V. Enjoy!

After some shout outs and a call for you 3 - 4 dozen listeners to request your listener number and recommend show ideas and Wheel of Distiny topics we launch into our main topic, which was suggested by friend of the show and past guest host, Dave Tupper.

"Best Disney Dining Day."

There were some rules: Stay on property. No budget. All food from waking up to bed time. It has to be possible, the time between establishments has to make sense.

Dave, Lisa and I get to breakfast before we lose Lisa due to internet issues, but fear not! She shares her lunch and dinner selections via instant messaging.

The Tonga Toast at Kona Cafe at The Polynesian Village Resort

We somehow manage to squeeze in snacks and adult beverages like an Innis & Gunn from the United Kingdom Pavilion at Epcot.

Raymond (Lisa's husband), me, and Lisa enjoying adult beverages at Epcot

This week's Wheel of Distiny topic submitted by listener Shendl: What is a good restaurant at Walt Disney World for an Anniversary Dinner under $60?

The Wave at The Contemporary Resort
