Star Wars: The Force Awakens Merchandise

This past Friday, AKA, Force Friday, Disney released it's new Star Wars: The Force Awakens merchandise.
Many Disney Stores opened early, but I didn't make it, due to how close the opening was to the start of work, so I had to settle for going the next day.

There were several styles of tee shirts,  my favorite being this Chewbacca shirt, but, sadly it only came in kids size! This is $16.95

 Action figures featuring new characters with light, sound and actual movie phrases are $29.95

 

 This figurine playset is $14.95.

As Halloween is fast approaching there are several costumes and masks to be found. Voice changing masks are $24.95.

This Kylo Ren costume is $59.95.

The much talked about crossguard lightsaber held by Kylo Ren is $29.95.

There are PJs and Plush.

BB-8 looks to be very popular, as there were only 2 plush left! They are $9.95.

 Plenty of old school New Hope Star Wars items are also available.

These die cast Elite Series action figures are $24.95 and there are more being released in the near future.

 

 

More reasonably price merch can also be had in the form of small die cast vehicles, cups and mugs.

There are some really great items, many of which the old, or, to be more accurate, young me would have absolutely plunked down hard earned money for. The new old version of me is much more concerned with retiring, and so I showed a lot of restraint, purchasing just one item.

I love R2D2, and when I saw this very reasonably priced wind up figure with sound effects, I had to have him! He was only $6.95!

Finding Donald

Every once in a while we do a post on this blog about a long lost toy that we've yearned for. We've all had them. Funny thing, for us, that toy usually happens to be a Donald Duck. I guess Donald has been more influential in our lives than we realized.

On a trip to visit Nick's parents, we found this gem of a photo of Nick, two days before his first birthday.

He remembered his bobble Donald so vividly he couldn't get it out of his mind for the rest of the weekend. He remembered the sounds it made and the feel of it, the way it bobbed around, but never tipped over.

 

For a kid not even one year old, he sure had some clear memories of his Donald!

And so, the search began. You know where I'm going with this, right? On our way home while he was driving, I checked on Ebay and golly gee, I found the Donald of his dreams! It was the only one even remotely resembling the one in Nick's photo. It could even be his original Donald! Look at this beauty!

Now he has surely seen his share of loving, goodness knows how many children have played with  this duck! But this 1960's Donald Duck is amazing. I will leave you with a close up of his face to make you smile!

Planes: Fire and Rescue Merchandise at the Disney Store

There is plenty of really great looking merchandise from Planes: Fire and Rescue available at the Disney Store and on disneystore.com.

Die Cast vehicles are $9.95, if you buy 2 or more they are $9.

There are also many varied styles of clothing from tee shirts at $12.95 on up to the really terrific bomber jacket below for $49.95.

There are also plenty of school supplies such as backpacks from $22.95 and stationary supply kits at $14.95.

You can get Pajamas for $16.95 and playsets for $19.95.

Planes: Fire and Rescue comes out in theaters this Friday, June 18th.

Meeko

Meeko is the big raccoon from the movie Pocahontas. He loves to eat snacks, and who doesn't? I'm thinking of hobnobs and cheese curls right now! Thank goodness we don't have either in the house.

In the film Pocahontas, Meeko is Pocahontas' sidekick and hangs out with her for the whole movie, as comic relief and begging for food. The little hummingbird is named Flit.

While photographing this little statue for the "Husband who Loves to Blog," I started dreaming about this song and I haven't been able to get it out of my mind for the past couple of days.

The figurine really made me wonder about how to photograph it properly, as if one were peering in on another's private moment. It made me dream about the lives it represents. Isn't that perhaps the main reason most of us love to collect in the first place?

And really, who doesn't want their own raccoon as a pet?

Sunday Morning Flea Market Find

Even I have been known to bring home a Disney item or two, and when I saw this little Figment sitting on a table amidst the clutter, my heart started to pitter-patter. How did my husband miss this? Does he already have this and that's why he passed it up?

No, I know that he was oblivious. I know where certain things are hidden; I know the vendors; I stop and chat and they know me by sight, at least. So when I went up to the lady and asked her some questions about the Figment, she was surprised he wasn't marked like the other Disney figures were, and gave me a price I couldn't refuse. I looked him over more carefully and gave her the money!

I gave him to Nick at the end of the isle when all our friends got together again and Nick did not have him. He was shocked and happily surprised!

He is stamped 1982 Disney and Japan on the bottom.

Disney Charms

I don't know what possessed me to pick these up years ago, I guess I thought I would make a little necklace or choker out of them. Unfortunately they have been languishing in the back of my jewelry box until now. Does anyone out there know anything about these little charms? They are plastic, embossed on both sides, and are dark copper in color.

Disney Husband–Gone Wild

While trying to clean up the house, I decided that a small compartmentalized shelf that we were under utlilizing would be a great place for my Disney Husband to display all of his smaller Disney toys and the like. So as he was doing his bloggie thing in the kitchen, I was measuring out the distance between the windows, writing down measurements and thinking about the tools I needed to get from the basement. I cleaned off the shelf, set it up on boxes so I didn't need to ask for any help and ran to get the tools. DH got suspicious when I marched up from the basement with a drill, hammer, stud finder and assorted boxes of nails and screws; but not suspicious enough to search me out to see what I was up to!

After I got the shelving unit up, I grabbed some of his Vinylmations (that I was glad to get off the bookcases!) and ran them upstairs to see how they'd look! Now I piqued his interest and he followed me upstairs! There was no stopping him after that!
