The subtitle to this photo could be "how to be a Disney Dork". No I didn't buy this ear hat but I did try it on for you all to laugh at me. The farce is strong in this one!

Limited Edition Viking Vinylmation : Story Behind the Photo
By Nick
Why am I posing with a family of strangers holding this Vinylmation?
This is a funny but true story, and I have pictures to prove it!
A happy ending for all at the Happiest Place on Earth!
Why am I posing with a family of strangers holding this Vinylmation?
This is a funny but true story, and I have pictures to prove it!
While
in Walt Disney World in 2012, we stopped in to The Puffin's Roost, the shop at Epcot's Norway
Pavilion.
They had a really great Viking Hat, with Mickey ears.
Making this an even cooler collectible, was the exclusive viking Vinylmation figure that came with it.
His shield on his back. There is a tiny little scuff mark on his helmet, no doubt from when he was in some battle!
AND it's limited to 1000 pieces. 2 artists names on this figure, Doug Strayer and Maria Clapsis.
AND, it was marked down, from, if memory serves from $60 to $20!
While
considering this purchase, another family was also looking at the hat,
but they just wanted the hat, they had no interest in the Vinylmation
Viking. In fact, they had no clue as to what Vinylmation was.
Shocking, I know.
While
the hat was funny, the truth was, neither my wife or I would wear it
often enough to justify just the effort of getting it home.
But I wanted the Viking.
As
we were contemplating our next move, the family decided they would buy
the hat. SO I offered to split the cost, if they were willing to part
with the Vinyl Viking. They were!
Making
the deal even better was the fact that as a Premium Annual Passholder, I
got a 20% discount. So we each got what we wanted for a fraction of the
original price!
A happy ending for all at the Happiest Place on Earth!

Downtown Disney Birthday
By: Arnick
I had an awesome time for my birthday this year. My husband and son took me out for my special day. We did a different take on Disney this time. instead of going to the parks, we decided to go to Downtown Disney!
Got to love a nice relaxing day at Downtown Disney. When we got there we had to find a decent parking space because Disney is in the middle of building a large parking complex (Hooray for more parking!). They are also starting a re-imagining of Downtown Disney which will be called Disney Springs. It will be fun to see the changes being made.
Once we got there we headed to Raglan Road for my birthday lunch. Raglan Road is an Irish pub located in the Pleasure Island area of Downtown Disney. It was named after Raglan Road in Dublin. I love going here. It's also one of my husband Jared's favorite restaurants.
The atmosphere is always fun and cozy. The food is wonderful, and the entertainment which includes Irish singers and dancers is a sight to see!
Also I can never forget to say hi to my friend Patty(nickname for him).
Patrick Kavanagh was a well-known Irish poet. Got to love seeing his thinking face every time you pass the pub.
After lunch we headed to the World of Disney. The largest Disney store in the world. I love going around and looking at everything Disney. It makes my heart happy.
But, of course I had to get another pair of Disney ears. Finally made it to the double digits with purchasing my tenth pair. My process of picking out my ears... it's kind of ridiculous. But this time I chose the purple crown ones. Love my new ears!
Happy birthday to me! Hehe.

The Disney Store's 25th Anniversary
.by: Nick
On March 28th of 2012 The Disney Store celebrated it’s 25th Anniversary, and Barbie and I were there for the store’s opening, so we could score the special Mickey Ears that were being given out that day.
We arrived at our local mall at 9:30 am for the 10 am opening of the store, and the line was already in front of the store, and down a nearby hallway.

Still, we were probably about 30th in line. If you look closely towards the center of the photo, you’ll see Barbie waving.

About 9:45, a Cast Member started handing out vouchers to guests for their Mickey Ears.
Ears were given out to the first 250 guests.
To help celebrate, the Disney Store asked for photo submissions for a chance to appear on their billboard in Times Square, in New York City! You bet I submitted mine!
.

At 10, the store was unlocked by a young guest, and we were in! To see a Disney Store opening, please check out this post.

Me and my Ears!
.Me and Mike, one of the wonderful Cast Members at our Disney Store.

As a special thank you, the Disney Store offered 25% off anything in the store, excluding gift cards and park passes, of course.
Within 20 minutes of submitting my photo, I got a confirmation email saying that my photo had been received, and to look for it on Times Square!
Here is the photo I received with the email:
Please stop back tomorrow to see some of the merchandise I bought.
