The Little Mermaid WDCC: Seaside Serenade

While these pictures were  obviously not taken at the Seaside, looking at this terrific Walt Disney Classics Collection piece, I can hear the waves crashing on the rocks, and hear Ariel singing of her longing to be part of our world.

This was the 2006 Walt Disney Collectors Society Membership Sculpture.

Her tail is painted with opalescent paint.

She measures 6 inches tall.

I think this may be one of the finest WDCC sculpts, as I feel it captures the emotion of this pivotal scene perfectly.

I am not sure why this sculpt doesn’t have a production mark.

I really don’t have enough Little Mermaid pieces, despite it being one of my favorite Disney movies, so I was really happy to find this on eBay for a very reasonable price, and make her part of my world.

Walt Disney Classics Collection Grumpy

These Grumpy Walt Disney Classics Collection pieces are from 1995.

Grumpy bears the trowel production mark, in honor of the Academy Award winning 1933 cartoon, “The Three Little Pigs”. 

The official title of the Grumpy sculpt is Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs “Humph”.

The pipe organ is made of resin, carved with woodland creatures such as frogs, owls, fish, rabbits and a baby bird in its nest. Rabbits support the organ and race across the front, and squirrels are at each end.

It measures 7 1/4 inches (18.4 centimeters) tall.

I won this on eBay, and it didn’t come with a box. What it did come with, however, was pads on the bottom of the pipe organ. I’m not at all sure if these were original to the piece. I’ve searched online, and can’t seem to find any pictures proving it one way or the other. This also has the trowel production mark and is titled Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs Pipe Organ.

Grumpy is seated on the bellows for the pipe organ.

He is 4 1/2 inches (11.4 centimeters) tall.

I better stop here, my typing is interrupting the music, and Grumpy is giving me an angry stare. Did he just say humph?!

Mrs. Potts Walt Disney Classics Collection

I got this Mrs. Potts on eBay several years ago, for a really great price. She came without her box, which was no big deal, but what I didn’t realize when I bought it, she is part of a set! Originally, she came with her son Chip.

She is clearly looking at Chip, and saying “Good Night, Luv.” Which happens to be the name of this piece.

She is 4 1/2 inches tall.

This piece has the pickax production mark, from 1998, in honor of Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs.

I may not have the Chip WDCC piece that accompanies Mrs. Potts, but that doesn’t mean I don’t have a Chip in my collection.

We Wants the Redhead, WDCC Pirates of the Caribbean Figures

One of the most popular rides at any Disney park it’s in is Pirates of the Caribbean, and one of the most memorable scenes is the Bride Auction scene.
The Walt Disney Classic Collection commemorated this scene in 2006 with this two piece set, featuring the auctioneer and the redhead herself.



The auctioneer measures 10″ tall by 5″ wide by 3 1/2″ deep. The Auctioneer features a brass earring, pewter sword, chain, and whip handle. The medallion is pewter and red glass. The whip is made of leather.

The Redhead measures 9″ tall by 4″ wide by 4″ deep. Her hair and hat are pewter.











They each have the Tea Cup production mark.

Walt Disney Classics Collection Brer Rabbit

Barbie bought me this Limited Edition Brer Rabbit Classics Collection figurine for Valentines Day last year.

Our garden is filling in for the Briar Patch.

In fact, the title of this piece is Born and Bred in a Briar Patch. It was released in 1996 to commemorate Song of the South's 50th Anniversary. The production mark is the Sailor Hat which represents Donald Duck's on-screen debut in The Wise Little Hen in 1934.

He is 4 3/4 inches tall. The thorny vines are made of metal.

 

Let's get him back to his "Briar Patch".

Mickey Mouse as Steamboat Willie WDCC Figure

Congratulations on Your 85th, Mickey Mouse!

85 years ago, "Steamboat Willie" premiered at Universal's Colony Theater in New York City. While "Plane Crazy" was the actual 1st Mickey test screened on May 15 1928, and "Gallopin' Gaucho" was completed, but unreleased due to the lack of a distributor, November 18, 1928 is considered the birth of Mickey Mouse.

I thought I'd share this special piece today to celebrate Mickey in his most important theatrical debut.

This is the Walt Disney Classic Collection Charter Member 5th Anniversary sculpture, released in 1997. It was sent as each Charter Member renewed for their fifth consecutive year.

The wheel turns!

The tail is metal, the legs and feet are pewter.

Trick or Treat, WDCC Lilo and Stitch

Lilo and Stitch is one of our favorite movies and Halloween is one of our favorite holidays, so these figures are actually displayed in our house year round.

 Stitch is titled 'Trick", while Lilo is "or Treat." They have the "Glass Slipper" Production Mark, which  honored Cinderella's 55th Anniversary in 2005.

We bought these on eBay a few years ago, and I don't recall what we paid, but I know it was well below retail price.

Stitch came with the pumpkin. 

Lilo also has a lovely pumpkin.

Stitch made his Jack 'O lantern mischievous, just like himself, while Lilo carved hers to look happy, just like her personality! How do you carve yours? Boo!
