The Frozen Holiday Premium Package at Disney's Hollywood Studios

A few months ago, we were in the midst of making plans for our recent trip to Walt Disney World when information for the Frozen Holiday Premium Package popped up on the Disney Parks Blog.
I sent an email to the friends that we were to be traveling with asking if they "would like to build a snowman?"
I got a response shortly thereafter in the affirmative. We chose a date, and the package was booked.
We chose the evening of Sunday December 7th.
Immediately upon arriving at Disney's Hollywood Studios, signs directed us to Sid Cahuenga's, which used to be a really neat movie memorabilia shop, but has been converted into a MyMagic+ Service Center.
We were asked to chose a time and given passes for preferred seating for the 4:55pm “For the First Time in Forever: A Frozen Sing-Along Celebration” and a lanyard for the Dessert Party.
When we got back to the Premiere Theater, we were directed to a special entrance and shown to our seats.
I had no idea what to expect from this attraction, as I've avoided all spoilers, but I did hear it is incredibly popular, as the line outside and packed theater confirmed.
Spoiler alert: I'm going to tell you about the show, so if you don't want to know anything about it, skip ahead!
Before the show, an announcement is made that we are welcome to take as many photos, and take as much video as we would like!
The Celebration begins with an announcement that the Queen of Arendelle would be making an appearance, but she is apparently a bit late, as Anna comes out instead, calling for her sister Elsa to please come out.
Their banter is very entertaining, with jokes and quips that are funny to young and old. There is even a joke that smooths over the emotional impact that the death of Elsa and Anna's mother and father has, stating that the death of parents seems to be a plot point in 50% of the Disney library!
Between sections of story, the actual musical numbers from the film are played with the words on the bottom so all can sing along.
It is pretty amazing to hear an entire audience not only sing along, but to sing along loudly.

Finally we are treated to an appearance from Queen Elsa herself, and it is a dramatic entrance indeed, and she creates an indoor snowfall!
If you or your children are fans of Frozen, I can't recommend going to this show enough.
Get a FastPass+, as the standby lines are loooong!
After the show, we had some time to kill, so made our way over to Wandering Oaken's Trading Post. This Frozen themed shop has plenty of merchandise as well as an actual snow play area! There is even a PhotoPass cast member on hand for a photo op!
The non alcoholic beverages included soda, juices, hot chocolate, tea, and coffee.
There were also themed alcoholic beverages.
There is a little pull out stand on the back so it can be displayed.

We also passed the party area, located at the end of Streets of America, so I took the opportunity to snap a couple of pics. Note the threatening looking clouds. We were curious as to what they would do if it rained, but it actually wound up being a lovely night.
We lined up at a little after 630pm, as we noticed a queue forming for the 7pm party. This turned out to be a good idea, as we were able to get an excellent seat at the very end of the seating area with an unobstructed view of the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights.
The desserts were pretty basic, cupcakes, tarts, fruit and whipped cream, chocolate cake, and the like, but all were very good, and, of course, Frozen themed.
The non alcoholic beverages included soda, juices, hot chocolate, tea, and coffee.
There were also themed alcoholic beverages.
Many people had their fill and departed, but we stayed and enjoyed the party, and, yep, the alcoholic beverages, until the end, at 830pm.
Also included in the package was this pin and litho set.
There is a little pull out stand on the back so it can be displayed.
How much is the Frozen Holiday Premium Package, you may be asking? $89 for adults and $59 for children (ages 3 to 9), tax and gratuity included.
Was it worth it? I feel I got my money's worth in Southern Isles Cider alone, which was made with Jim Beam, apple cider and caramel syrup. 2 members of our party, my wife Barbie and friend Jill did not have many alcoholic beverages, and they also felt it was worth the cost, as we all had a terrific time. It is more about the experience than the food.

A Re-Evaluation of Frozen

Some of you reading this may be over Frozen.
I understand. In the opinion of many, it's taken over Walt Disney World.
This takeover happened during a period of time that Barbie and I did not visit the parks, and when we did visit in October, we really didn't feel any of the impacts of this juggernaut on the World, with the exception perhaps of Maelstrom being closed.
Why then am I bringing Frozen up now?
For one, we just re-watched it for the first time since we saw it last year in the theater.
Why did it take so long see it again? We've been waiting for the 3D Blu-ray version to be released in the United States, something Disney has chosen not to do as of yet for some reason. I finally caved and bought the region free version from Amazon UK.
So, why did I give in to what is very possibly a marketing ploy, since I'm guessing there will eventually be a deluxe 3D box set released in the United States that will have an Olaf something or other I'll really want, with a bunch of bonus material, which the region free version lacks, and I'll be shelling yet another $30+ out?
Two things.
First, we are going on another, longer trip to Walt Disney World soon, and we will indeed be entering the "Frozen Zone."
In addition to any and all Frozen activities at Disney's Hollywood Studios, we'll be doing the Frozen Holiday Premium Package, also at that park, which includes reserved seating for the First Time in Forever Sing Along, reserved viewing for the Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights, as well as a dessert party, a lithograph and a pin.
Then there is A Frozen Holiday Wish at the Magic Kingdom, where we join Elsa, Anna, Kristoff and Olaf, who have ventured all the way from Arendelle (or Disney's Hollywood Studios at least) to put on a castle show.
Second, we started watching the ABC television program Once Upon a Time. Have you heard of this? Apparently it's very popular within the Disney community. (Yes, this is sarcasm.)
Well, we are Hooked, pun intended. (If you're a fan, you'll get that.)
We just watched the first 3 seasons, and as season 4 is Frozen-centric, we wanted a refresher.
I enjoyed the film even more the second time than the first. It looks amazing in 3D, and it really is the perfect movie for this format. The songs are amazing, it's funny, and the twist is really very clever. Plus, as a bonus, the animated Mickey Mouse short Get a Horse is included, and, again, made for and best viewed in 3D.
I'll be posting photos of the events mentioned above on our Facebook page, on Instagram, and on Twitter, all of which can be accessed from over there on the right side of this page.

We Make an Appearance at The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights

Back in November of 2011 while at Walt Disney World, I got a Facebook PM from a friend with a YouTube Video attached. We had never met personally, but he had seen plenty of pictures of me on Facebook. Imagine my surprise when he asked "Is this you at The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights?"
I had indeed JUST been at Hollywood Studios seeing this wonderful holiday show a couple of nights previously with Barbie and our friends, Josh and Jill.
I clicked on the link, and sure enough, there we all were on someone's YouTube video!
I walk into the picture at about the 1:34 mark, and start jumping up and down like a child on Christmas morning. Then I look over at Josh and Jill to my right, and my wife enters and comes around to my left.
Anyway, enjoy the VIDEO!

The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights Desktops
The Osborne Family Spectacle of Dancing Lights started on November 8, 2013 and runs through January 5, 2014 at Disney's Hollywood Studios at Walt Disney World.
If you haven't seen them, they are fabulous and festive. Devote at least 30 minutes to walk around and see all the little hidden touches.
We spent well over an hour walking around here back in November of 2011, and, somehow, we wound up on someone's YouTube video! For that story and video, please stop back tomorrow!
