Disney MGM Studios Mickey Mouse Figurine

I found this really nice Mickey Mouse figurine at a local yard sale yesterday.

As soon as I saw it, with a price tag of $.75 no less, it was sold. I don't have any figurines in my collection with Disney MGM Studios on them, in fact, the only item I had from the time Disney's Hollywood Studios was Disney MGM was a really great Tee Shirt, long since worn to literally tatters, which I bought back in 1992.

As soon as I got this piece home, I washed it off, as it was rather dusty, and for the first time looked at the bottom.

Copyright Disney 1987, Japan. Why I find that very interesting is because Disney MGM Studios didn't officially open until May 1st, 1989.

If anyone has any idea where this figurine was originally sold, please let me know.

Flea Market Find: Ceramic Pooh Figurine

I picked this bank up at the Columbus Flea Market.

The seller was asking $10. I said "thank you", and walked away without it.
My wife was a little further back, looking at something at a different table.
When we got home, she proceeded to surprise me with this very figure. She would not say what she payed for him. "You aren't allowed to ask how much a gift is", was her response.
Fair enough.

This Pooh is 4.5 inches high.

The Walt Disney Production mark indicates it was produced before February of 1986.

Trick or Treat, WDCC Lilo and Stitch

Lilo and Stitch is one of our favorite movies and Halloween is one of our favorite holidays, so these figures are actually displayed in our house year round.

 Stitch is titled 'Trick", while Lilo is "or Treat." They have the "Glass Slipper" Production Mark, which  honored Cinderella's 55th Anniversary in 2005.

We bought these on eBay a few years ago, and I don't recall what we paid, but I know it was well below retail price.

Stitch came with the pumpkin. 

Lilo also has a lovely pumpkin.

Stitch made his Jack 'O lantern mischievous, just like himself, while Lilo carved hers to look happy, just like her personality! How do you carve yours? Boo!

Flea Market Finds: Disney PVC Figures

At the Flea market, it's not unusual to see plastic buckets of PVC and McDonald's Happy Meal toys out on tables. To be honest, I often make a half hearted run through some of them, if I bother at all.
But what is very uncommon is to see a PVC Figment figure on top! These are very collectible, and even though I already had this Figment which was out for all the world to see, and he is one of the more common figures, my heart jumped with the anticipation of finding more!

And I did find another Figment! Although I have this one as well, this one is in better condition than the one I actually bought from Epcot back in the early '90s!

 

Sadly, there were no more Figments, but I did find 3 more great figures. 

I love this Seven Dwarfs figure, and have no idea at all what year or where it is from.

 

Then there is this great little Mickey.

I have no idea what the number "722" indicates, and again, have no idea where and when it is from.

Lastly, my wife came up as I was looking through the figures, and immediately spotted this Winnie the Pooh.

Interestingly, he also has a number, "711", on him.

He fits in beautifully with the rest of her Pooh collection.

It's great finds like these for $1 each that bring us back to the flea market week after week!

Honey, Where's the Super Glue?

This post is another tutorial for you, in case someone you love breaks one of your Disney figures. In this case, we will be working on a Japanese Gashapon: Belle from Beauty and the Beast holding the glass jar containing the rose. It is a tiny plastic toy.

First of all, get your supplies together. Not much is needed for this quick fix; a couple toothpicks, super glue and a paper plate. Easy!

Examine your pieces and make sure the broken bits are clean and free from dust, dirt and old glue. Check them out carefully, see if they have any notches in them so you don't have to worry about lining the separate parts up on your own. 

These pieces have notches, so gluing them together will be a breeze! Fit them together first to make sure they go together easily. Next, prepare for the super glue. Place a small dab on your plate. You don't need much to take care of this project. Be careful not to touch the glue.

Use the pointy end of the toothpick to daub a bit of the glue and tap it onto the area you want to fix, the notched area in this case, and the opposite side. I placed the dome on top, put a tiny bit of pressure on it with my finger for about twenty seconds and placed it aside.

I repeated the same procedure with Belle's broken arm, and left them to cure for an hour. I'm sure that was way more time than was needed, but better safe than sorry!

So here is our tiny Belle in all her glory. She is fixated on that rose! For such tiny toys, they are very detailed. These are gumball machine toys in Asia. How cool is that? I know Nick would be spending all his lunch money on these if there were gumball machines with these in them here!

The most colourful Tigger ever! Still in the package.

Side and back panels.

Bottom & top of box. I am a frugal shopper so for me to spend $22 on a figurine, you know I like it.

And may I present, Tigger. I love the exclamation mark on his stomach and how his paws look like mittens.

Again with the heart shaped exclamation mark.

My camera wouldn't take a close-up of the writing on Tigger's bottom!

I did ponder over getting more than one figurine but Tigger is my all time favourite character and I loved this one and decided, since he's the only Tigger, I only need one figurine!
